Will your insurance claim survive a theft?

Most business insurance policies carry a security warranty clause — if your CCTV was not working the day of a theft, the claim can be rejected. You paid the premium; two minutes tells you if your cameras would let you down.

1. Are ALL your cameras recording right now? (not just installed — actually recording)
2. Do cameras cover every entry and exit point of your premises?
3. Is footage retained for at least 30 days?
4. Can you recognise a face at your entrance when you play back footage?
5. Does night / low-light recording actually work?
6. Is your DVR/NVR kept locked away (not where a thief can grab it)?
7. Is there power backup on the camera system?
8. Does someone check footage / camera health at least weekly?
9. Do you know what security measures your insurance policy requires (warranty clause)?
10. Was the system serviced in the last 12 months?
