કાયદો આવી ગયો છે — તૈયાર છો?

The Gujarat CCTV law, explained simply

In 2022, the Gujarat Assembly unanimously passed the Gujarat Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act — a law that makes CCTV systems mandatory for many categories of establishments. Here is what it says, without the legal language.

Who it covers

  • Commercial and industrial establishments attracting large numbers of people
  • Malls, religious places, hospitals, sports complexes
  • Railway and bus stations, designated parking areas

What it requires

  • CCTV cameras at entry and exit points
  • Footage stored for at least 30 days
  • Footage provided to authorities when requested

Penalties as written in the Act

For non-compliance with committee instructions: ₹10,000 for the first month of default, and ₹25,000 per month for subsequent months.

Honest note: the Act is law, but we make no claim about how actively it is being enforced right now. Our advice is simple — the requirements (entry/exit coverage, 30-day retention) are also exactly what your insurance policy expects. Meeting them protects you twice.
