Warranty Policy
How brand warranty on supplied hardware and our installation workmanship warranty work, what is covered, and how to raise a claim.
When we supply and install equipment for you, two separate warranties apply: the manufacturer's warranty on the hardware itself, and our own warranty on the installation work we do. This page explains what each one covers, what is not covered, and how to raise a claim. It applies to work carried out by Butterfly Business Solutions within our service area of Ahmedabad & Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The two layers of warranty
It helps to think of any job we do as two parts: the hardware we supply (cameras, recorders, switches, routers, biometric units, drives, cabling and so on) and the workmanship — our wiring, mounting, configuration and setup.
- Brand / manufacturer warranty on hardware. Genuine branded products we supply — for example Hikvision, CP Plus, Dahua, D-Link and TP-Link — carry the manufacturer's own warranty. The length and terms are set by that brand and vary by product. We supply genuine parts with a proper bill so that this brand warranty is valid and can be claimed.
- Our workmanship warranty on installation. Separately, we stand behind the quality of our own installation work for the period stated in writing on your invoice. If a problem arises from how we wired, mounted or configured the system — not from the hardware or outside factors — we will put it right.
What our installation warranty covers
Within the workmanship-warranty period, we will return and correct faults that are genuinely caused by our own installation work, at no further labour charge for that corrective work, such as:
- Loose, incorrect or poorly terminated cabling or connectors done by us;
- A camera, recorder or device that we mounted or fixed coming loose due to our fitting;
- Configuration or settings we set up not working as agreed at handover.
The supply of a written, itemised quote and a proper bill is part of how we work, so you will have the documentation needed to support a claim. For hardware faults, see the brand-warranty section below — those are handled through the manufacturer.
How to raise a claim
Raising a claim is simple. Contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email and tell us:
- Your name and the site address where the work was done;
- The bill or invoice reference (and, for a hardware fault, the product and its serial number if visible);
- A short description of the problem, and a photo or short video if that helps explain it.
We aim to respond within our working hours — Monday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 7:30 pm — and to arrange a site visit or, where the brand handles it, guide you through the manufacturer's process. A realistic response target is the same or next working day. As an on-site, service-area business, we attend faults on-site within our service area of Ahmedabad & Gandhinagar.
Faulty hardware — handled through the brand
If a supplied product develops a manufacturing fault, it is repaired or replaced under the manufacturer's warranty, on that brand's terms and timelines — not as a free replacement from us. We will help you make the claim: we will check the fault on site, assist you with the brand or its service centre and guide you through their process where we can, and keep you updated. Turnaround for a brand repair or replacement is set by the manufacturer and is outside our control. A replacement may be an equivalent current model if the original has been discontinued by the brand.
What is not covered, and what voids warranty
Neither our workmanship warranty nor the brand warranty covers damage or failure caused by factors outside the original supply and installation. The following are not covered, and may void the applicable warranty:
- Physical or accidental damage, mishandling, or relocation/refitting of equipment by others;
- Water ingress, moisture or weather damage beyond what the equipment is rated for;
- Power surge, voltage fluctuation or lightning damage;
- Rodent or pest damage to cabling and equipment;
- Tampering, opening or repairs by anyone other than us or the authorised brand service, and changes or additional work carried out by a third party;
- Consumables and wear-and-tear items, and normal end-of-life of components such as storage drives;
- Issues caused by internet, electricity supply, third-party apps or services, or by force majeure events.
A claim also needs the original bill, and the product serial numbers and seals should be intact. Please note that a CCTV or security system reduces risk but cannot guarantee against theft, crime or every event being recorded — our warranty covers the hardware and installation, not recorded footage, missed recordings or gaps. The customer remains responsible for lawful use of any surveillance system, including signage and not capturing private areas; more on how we deliver and support systems is set out in our Service & AMC Policy.
Out-of-warranty repairs and ongoing support
Once a warranty period has ended, or for a fault that is not covered, we are glad to help on a paid basis. We will diagnose the issue and give you a clear, itemised quote first — any replacement parts are genuine and billed at their proper cost with documentation, and labour or visit charges are confirmed in advance. Nothing is added to the final bill that was not discussed with you beforehand. For regular preventive care and priority support, an Annual Maintenance Contract is often the better option — see our Service & AMC Policy.
This Warranty Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and Refund & Cancellation Policy.
